Like all Scout groups, 5th Footscray Scout Group is a non-profit, volunteer run organisation. Our energetic and dedicated leaders give up a great deal of their time for the benefit of children like yours. They do it because they love it and they believe in the lifelong benefits of giving children the Scouting experience.
As a group we try to keep the financial costs to families as low as possible. As a parent, you will be expected to assist by contributing a small amount of your time each year to fund-raising events, working bees or the group committee. Scouts Australia does not contribute to the running of our group. Expenses such as insurance, maintenance, electricity, equipment purchases and repairs must be covered by subscriptions and fundraising. The group committee comprises parents who ensure the group remains financially viable so that Scouting programs can run smoothly. Committee positions are filled annually and all parents are invited and urged to nominate themselves.
